It just occurred to me that Valentine’s Day is this week. THIS WEEK! I don’t know how it crept up one me (you too?!) so fast, but it’s here, so I figured I should at least start thinking about what I’ll be doing that day. This year my heart belongs to my hubby of nearly 10 years, and of course, my two silly little pups. We usually don’t make a big fuss about Valentine’s Day these days, it always seems a little overrated. But, we do try to do at least a little something to make the day special.

If you’re looking for some Valentine’s Day ideas for him, or her, I’ve got a few suggestions! (*Note, all recipes mentioned can be found below) First, for the peanut butter lover in your house, why not make some homemade peanut butter cups? They are easy to make, and deeeelicious! I made these last year for Ryan and plan to make them again this year because they were a total hit! They make great gifts for the kids, and friends as well! If peanut butter isn’t their thing, then certainly, they aren’t human! Kiiiiiding. If peanut butter isn’t their thing, chocolate chips cookies must be?! Another fun idea is to make heart-shaped chocolate chip cookies, and then dip half of the cookie in white chocolate or a candy coating.

One of the worst Valentine’s Days that I can recall was when I worked as a server at Red Lobster during college. Valentine’s Day happened to fall on a Saturday which meant even more love birds were out to celebrate that day. We were SLAMMED and I was working the lunch and dinner shift. I made great money, but man, I walked out of there EXHAUSTED! If going out for dinner isn’t your thing, it is SO easy to put together a great meal at home. Below are a few suggestions. This year I’ll be making Artichoke Spinach Dip for an appetizer, and Italian Love Nests, Cheesy Garlic Bread, and a lettuce salad with greek dressing for dinner. For dessert, you really can’t go wrong with homemade Chocolate Molten Lava Cakes. I’ve made these at least three times in the last month and they are always a hit!

Unfortunately I have no Valentine’s Day decoration ideas for you, but I did find a few cute ideas on Pinterest! And the only idea I have for something fun to do at home would be to watch sappy Valnetine’s Day movies! You know… like “When Harry met Sally” or “Crazy Stupid Love” or my favorite, “The Notebook.”

However you decide to spend Valentine’s Day, I hope you have a great day! :)
