How to Cut a Pineapple

A step-by-step how-to guide for cutting a pineapple, including pictures for each step!

  • 1 whole pineapple


  • Cut the top and bottom off of the pineapple. Then cut the pineapple in half.
  • Cut each half in half again so that you are left with quarters.
  • Cut away the core from each piece. 
  • Cut each quarter in half again so that you are left with 8 spears. Cut the skin away from each spear.
  • If you want the pineapple cut into spears, at this point you're done. If you want your pineapple cut into chunks, begin cutting each spear into bite-sized chunks.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Pineapple will stay good in the refrigerator for 3-5 days and will freeze well for 10-12 months.
