Prepare the chicken: pound chicken breasts to ½ inch thickness.
Season the chicken: season both sides of the chicken liberally with your favorite poultry rub or salt and pepper to taste.
Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Cook chicken: add chicken to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, then flip the chicken and continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken has reached an internal temp of 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
Make the BBQ pan sauce: to the skillet add bbq sauce, chicken broth, apple cider vinegar and brown sugar. Whisk to combine, scraping up any bits on the bottom of the pan. Bring to a simmer, then simmer for 5-10 minutes.
Return the chicken to the pan and spoon the sauce over the chicken. Continue cooking for a few minutes to coat the chicken with BBQ pan sauce.
Serve and enjoy!
