Indian Fried Cabbage

Try this Indian version of Fried Cabbage for the perfect side dish. Easy, spicy, and chock full of flavor! We love adding some peas, tomatoes, and potatoes for a more hearty version.

Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage shredded or finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 inch ginger grated
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • ¼ cup water
  • 3/4 cup peas can use frozen or fresh peas
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the cabbage: thinly slice or chop cabbage. A food processor works well for this but isn't required.
  • Sautè the spices: heat olive oil in a pan then add cumin seeds and grated ginger. Sauté for a minute.
  • Add cabbage, paprika, coriander, and salt. Stir to combine then pour in ¼ cup water.
  • Cover the pan and cook for 8-10 minutes until the cabbage is fork tender.
  • Stir in peas and cook for another minute or two.
  • Serve hot.
