Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 6 tablespoons cold butter cut into 1/2 inch chunks
  • ¾ cup buttermilk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a food processor, pulse together the 2 cups flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon salt, and 2 teaspoons sugar until well combined.
  • Add 6 tablespoons cold butter and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with small pieces of butter throughout.
  • Pour in 3/4 cup buttermilk and pulse just until the dough begins to come together—don’t overmix.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently pat it into a ¾-inch thick rectangle.
  • Use a 2½-inch round cutter to cut out biscuits. Re-roll scraps once if needed to cut a few more.
  • Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Serve warm with sausage gravy, butter, or jam!
