Homemade taco seasoning for 1 pound of meat is easy, flavorful, and budget-friendly! Skip the packet and make this!
Prep Time5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon corn starch

Instructions

  • Combine all seasonings and mix well.
  • Cook the meat - in a large skillet brown 1 pound of ground beef (or ground turkey) until no longer pink. Drain any excess grease.
  • Add the seasoning - sprinkle the seasoning over the meat. Stir in ⅔ cup water. Stir to combine.
  • Simmer - bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 4-5 minutes, stirring until the liquid reduces and coats the meat in a saucy texture.

Notes

This yields about 3 tablespoons of seasoning which is enough for 1 pound of ground beef or ground turkey.
