Ingredients for Pumpkin Caramel Rice Krispies Treats
This recipe is divided into two parts. Part one consists of making the homemade pumpkin caramel sauce, and part two involves making the Rice Krispies treats. I like to keep a batch of homemade pumpkin caramel sauce on hand which makes this recipe extra quick and easy to make
Only a few ingredients are needed to make this recipe:
- Rice Krispies cereal
- Marshmallows
- Butter
- Pumpkin Caramel Sauce – you can make this homemade OR use a store bought brand (this isn’t always easy to come by, so making it homemade might be your best option).
If making homemade pumpkin caramel sauce, you will need:
- Sugar
- Butter
- Heavy whipping cream
- Pumpkin pie spice
- Salt
Instructions
Begin by making the homemade pumpkin caramel sauce if you do not have a store bought brand available to you. Homemade is always recommended, but if you’d like to take a shortcut and have a favorite pre-made option available, fell free to use it.

- Prepare a baking pan – you will need a 9 x 9 inch square baking pan.
- Melt butter and marshmallows
- Add in pumpkin caramel sauce
- Stir in Rice Krispies cereal
- Press into prepared pan
- Top with more pumpkin caramel sauce
- Cool to room temperature
- Cut and serve

Ingredients
Pumpkin Caramel Sauce
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 5 tablespoons butter
- ยฝ cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 ยฝ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
- ยฝ teaspoon salt

- 5 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 10 oz marshmallows
- 4 tablespoons butter
- โ cup pumpkin caramel sauce
- ยผ cup pumpkin carmel sauce for the top

Pumpkin Caramel Sauce Directions
- Make the pumpkin caramel sauce: In a large skillet, cook sugar on medium heat until fully melted. It will start out dry, then start to clump, then become mostly melted and turn brown, then be smooth and brown.
- Once itโs smooth, add butter and stir quickly. Mixture will bubble up.
- Once butter is completely melted, add in the heavy whipping cream. Again the mixture will bubble, just continue to stir. Boil for 1 minute, then take it off the heat and add the pumpkin pie spice and salt. Stir to incorporate and pour into a heat safe container. Glass works best. Mixture is extremely hot so donโt be tempted to test it right away.
Pumpkin Caramel Rice Krispies Directions
- Line a 9×9 square pan with foil and spray with non-stick spray; set aside.
- In a large deep stock pot, melt butter on medium heat until completely melted. Add in the marshmallows and stir until they are melted and the mixture is smooth. Turn off the heat and add โ cup pumpkin caramel sauce.
- Stir in the Rice Krispies cereal and mix well, making sure that the cereal is evenly coated.
- Gently press into the prepared pan in an even layer.
- Top with ยผ cup pumpkin caramel sauce. Spread evenly.
- Cool to room temperature, then cut and serve.
