This Italian Chicken Sausage Skillet uses only one pan, is loaded with veggies, and comes together in under 30 minutes!

Woah, two chicken sausage dishes in one week? Yes, and I’ll explain why! First, have you tried Italian Chicken Sausage before? It is so yummy, and such a great alternative to traditional pork Italian sausage (less fat, less calories, score!). Secondly, have you shopped at Costco before? It’s all about buying in bulk so when I made the decision to buy Italian Chicken Sausage…at Costco…… it meant that I came home with A LOT… three pounds to be exact!

When I was wondering what to make with Italian chicken sausage, I started with two batches of this Italian Chicken Sausage pasta. It is SO delicious. The third pound of chicken sausage was used to make this super simple Italian Chicken Sausage skillet.

Italian Chicken Sausage Skillet Ingredients:

  • Italian chicken sausage – cuts into chunks
  • red bell peppers – cut into bite-sized pieces
  • onions – cut into bite sized pieces
  • zucchini – cut into rounds of half-moon shapes
  • Italian dressing

How to make Chicken Sausage skillet:

  • prepare the meat and vegetables: cut the Italian chicken sausage into chunks, then wash and cut the vegetables into bite sized pieces
  • prepare skillet: heat oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium high heat
  • sautè chicken sausage: Italian chicken sausage is generally pre-cooked and you are just heating it through.
  • sautè vegetables: until tender
  • flavor it: add Italian dressing, then simmer the chicken sausage and veggies for a few minutes longer
  • serve

What to serve with Italian Chicken Sausage skillet:

I like to serve this super simple skillet dinner over rice. Other options include:

I love recipes like this that are easy, healthy, and come together super quick, not to mention the fact that it only requires one pan. ONE PAN! If you’re looking for ways to use Italian Chicken Sausage, look no further. Enjoy!

Italian Chicken Sausage Skillet

This Italian Chicken Sausage Skillet uses only one pan, is loaded with veggies, and comes together in under 30 minutes!
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 red bell peppers cut into bite-sized chunks
  • 1 yellow onion cut into bite-sized chunks
  • 1 zucchini cut into 1/4-inch slices
  • 1 pound Italian Chicken Sausage cut into bite-sized chunks
  • 1-2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup Italian dressing

Instructions

  • Heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add Italian chicken sausage chunks and cook until the sausage is heated through (the kind I bought was precooked, and just needed to be heated to 165 degrees Fahrenheit).
  • Remove the sausage from the pan and add a bit more oil if necessary. Cook veggies for about 10 minutes, or until they're tender.
  • Add cooked sausage back to the pan. Stir in Italian dressing of choice and cook for a few more minutes.
  • Serve over rice, or eat as-is. Enjoy!
