WELCOME TO THE KITCHEN, HERE’S HOW TO MAKE VANILLA PROTEIN POWDER SMOOTHIES
This quick and easy high-protein smoothie recipe made with vanilla protein powder will help keep you feeling full and satisfied throughout your day. Plus, it only takes minutes to make.
Vanilla Protein Powder Smoothie Ingredients:
Gather your ingredients. You will need:
- Vanilla Greek Yogurt
- Frozen Banana – if using a fresh banana, add in a few ice cubes
- Water or Milk – regular milk, almond milk, cashew milk, etc.
- Honey – just a squeeze is all you need, or another sweetener of your choice
- Vanilla protein powder – I use this Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Vanilla Protein Powder. It has 24 grams of protein per scoop. It is the best vanilla protein powder that I’ve found that is reasonably priced.
Making a quick vanilla protein smoothie:
To make a vanilla smoothie with protein powder, get out your blender. I love my Vitamix blender.
- To your blender add greek yogurt, frozen banana, a squeeze of honey, and milk or water — everything except the protein powder! This step is important!
- Blend until smooth.
- Add protein powder- after your smoothie is well blended, add in the protein powder and mix for just 1-2 seconds longer on low. I flip my blender on and off pretty quickly.
Whatever you do, if you you are trying to avoid a foamy protein smoothie, do not add the protein powder with the other ingredients. It is essential to add it at the very end and only blend for a few seconds.
Benefits of Vanilla Protein Powder Smoothies
- Protein packed: protein helps build and repair muscles and helps us feel full for longer.
- Customizable and versatile: adding a variety of fruits changes up the flavor and provides variety.
- Quick and easy: it truly doesn’t get much easier than this! It takes less than 5 minutes form start to finish to make these easy vanilla smoothies.
Smoothie Add-ins
Here are some of my favorite ingredients to add to smoothies to add additional nutrients, flavor and texture:
- Chia Seeds – high in fiber and Omega 3 – Fatty Acids, source of plant based protein
- Hemp Seeds – plant-based complete protein, rich in healthy fats
- Cinnamon – adds flavor
- Nut butters – flavor
- Handful of spinach or kale – a boost of nutrients!
- Cocoa Powder – adds a fun chocolate twist!
Smoothie Tips
- Use Frozen Bananas: frozen bananas add a natural creaminess to the smoothie
- Protein powder last: do not add protein powder until the other smoothie ingredients have been blended well. This prevents the protein powder smoothie from becoming frothy or foamy.
- Adjust thickness: if you like a thicker smoothie, reduce the liquid a bit. If you like a thinner smoothie, add a bit more.
Quick and easy Vanilla Protein Powder Smoothies are the perfect choice for a quick breakfast, a snack on the go, or a post-workout snack. With just a few ingredients, you are going to love how quick and easy it is to make a protein-packed smoothie at home. Enjoy!
