Ingredients You’ll Need for Sautéed Mushrooms and Onions
The star of the show for this recipe is the mushrooms and onions. Aside from those two ingredients, you’ll only need a few pantry staples, along with fresh thyme, to pull this quick and easy recipe together.
- butter
- olive oil
- mushrooms – button, or cremini mushrooms are my go-to choices for this recipes
- onion – a sweet Vidalia onion is best, otherwise a regular yellow onion works well too

- Worcestershire sauce – while it’s a hard ingredient to say, it adds a lot of flavor to the reipe

Cleaning Mushrooms
Cleaning mushrooms is an important step to remove dirt and debris. Here are the steps to take when cleaning mushrooms.
- Gently wipe each mushroom with a damp paper towel or clean cloth.
- Pat dry
- Avoid rinsing mushrooms directly under water – they easily absorb water and can become mushy if run directly under water
