Making a cheeseburger in the air fryer is quick and delicious! Nothing beats a juicy burger with all of your favorite toppings.
I started making cheeseburgers in the air fryer during the winter when my 9 year old was requesting grilled burgers and I had no interest in bundling up to go out to the grill. I realize that there are people that brave the cold and grill year-round. I am not one of those people! Ha!
While I expected that I could make a good burger in the air fryer, I wasn’t expecting it to be quite as juicy and delicious as it turned out to be. Sometimes you just need a good burger on a random weekday night. Air fryer burgers make a regular appearance at our house, and truthfully, I’m not sad about it. They are so good!
Don’t miss out on this quick and easy way to make juicy cheeseburgers. ❤️-Ashley

Pin It NowHow to Make a Cheeseburger in the Air Fryer
Here is a brief overview of how to make a cheeseburger in the air fryer. For the full recipe including all measurements, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
- Preheat the air fryer. This is an important part of any air fryer recipe.
- Prepare the meat. While the air fryer is heating up, prepare the meat. Add the meat to a bowl, add in Worcestershire sauce.
- Form the patties. Divide the meat evenly into four burgers. Hamburger patties should be flattened to roughly 5 inches across. Be sure to use your thumb to add a dimple/crater to the middle of the burger. This will help prevent the meat from balling up / shrinking. Generously season both sides of the meat with salt and black pepper.
- Air Fry the burgers. Make sure to flip the burgers halfway through. Monitor the internal temperature of the burgers with a meat thermometer to ensure you cook your burgers to your desired doneness.
- Add cheese. American cheese is a classic. Pepper-jack cheese is also delicious.
- Toast the buns. It only takes a couple of minutes to toast the buns in the air fryer.
- Serve with your favorite sides for burgers. I’ve got some suggestions below!
Seasoning for Burgers
Seasoning your burger is essential for enhancing the flavor. Seasoning for burgers can vary depending on the taste you are going for. I tend to take a classic approach:
- Salt – this helps bring out the natural flavor of the beef
- Black Pepper
- Worcestershire sauce – I like to use this to add a little somethin’ somethin’ to my burgers.
Also, sometimes I like to use Montreal steak seasoning in place of salt and pepper. Additional seasonings you can experiment with:
- onion powder
- garlic powder
- paprika
- smoked paprika
- cumin
- chili powder/ red pepper flake if you like a little heat!
I recommend using 80/20 ground chuck for juicy burgers.
Flatten each burger out to roughly 5 inches across. As it cooks, it will shrink a bit down to a 3 inch burger which will fit perfectly on a standard hamburger bun.
Sides for Cheeseburgers
Cheeseburgers are a classic comfort food and there are a variety of sides that are perfect to serve with them. Here are some sides for cheeseburgers:
- Crispy Potato Wedges
- Sweet Potato Fries
- Onion Rings
- Coleslaw
- Corn on the cob
- Classic Potato Salad
- Baked Beans
- Pickles
- Mac and Cheese
- Caprese Salad
Internal Temperatures for Beef Burgers
Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness as the burgers cook in the air fryer.
- Rare: 120-125 degrees Farenehiet
- Medium Rare: 130-135 degrees Farenehiet
- Medium: 140-145 degrees Farenheit
