Easy Crispy Bacon in the Oven: Say Goodbye to Splatters!

Hello friends! Let’s talk about making bacon in the oven — because honestly, once you try this method, you’ll never go back to frying it on the stovetop. You don’t even have to pre-heat the oven!

This is one of the most undervalued kitchen hacks because not only does it save you time, but it’s also easier to clean up than pan frying bacon on the stovetop. No splattering grease, no standing over a hot pan – so dreamy!

I also think it tastes better. For whatever reason, baked bacon crisps up perfectly every single time. Crispy yet chewy, just the way I like it.

freshly baked bacon being transferred to a play lined with paper towels to drain excess grease.

Whether you’re making bacon to go alongside my favorite Cinnamon Rolls from Scratch, or cooking up bacon for my all-time summer fave — BLT Wraps, this method is a game-changer.

This is one of those kitchen tricks that you will wish you knew about years ago. Cooking a whole package of crispy bacon all at once to use in recipes throughout the week is such a win. Especially because the method is pretty foolproof. All you need is a rimmed baking sheet, parchment paper or foil (a wire rack is optional for extra crispiness!) and bacon!

Let’s skip the messy stove and get some bacon baking!

HOW TO MAKE BACON IN THE OVEN

prep baking sheet

Remember, no need to pre-heat the oven! Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil or parchment paper. Use a wire rack if you want your bacon extra crispy! Arrange the bacon evenly on the baking sheet.

bake

400 degrees is the perfect temp to bake bacon. Timing will vary depending on your oven and the thickness. It can take anywhere from 15-25 minutes. Once you’ve made bacon in your oven, you will have a better idea of how long it will take.

drain

Once the bacon is crispy, carefully remove the bacon from the oven. Use tongs to transfer the bacon to a paper-towel lined plate and soak up any excess grease.

serve

Whether you are serving bacon alongside pancakes, scrambled eggs, or to use in pasta salads and sandwiches, baked bacon is crispy perfection!

Tips for Success

  • Timing: thick cut bacon will take longer to cook than regular cut bacon. Add additional time as needed.
  • 1st time? Check early! : Is this your first time baking bacon in your oven? Start checking on the bacon as early as 10 minutes. The rate at which the bacon cooks can vary depending on how quickly your oven comes up to temperature.
  • Flavor Variations: Sprinkle brown sugar over the bacon, or drizzle with maple syrup!
  • Storage: Store leftover bacon in an airtight container or ziplock bag for up to 5 days. You can also freeze it for up to a month.
