Breakfast Sausage in the Air Fryer (quick and easy!)

According to my 10 year old, a warm breakfast like scrambled eggs and toast just isn’t complete unless it’s wrapped up and topped with a delicious little bow, AKA – sausage or bacon. And sometimes, this delicious eggs n’ sausage breakfast is requested on a school morning.

I don’t know what school mornings are like in your house, but in my house, they can be a little chaotic — and that’s with just one child to get out the door! What I’m trying to get at is that sometimes, I don’t have time to babysit sausage or bacon on the stove. For bacon, my go-to solution is always to make it in the oven (although I’ve been testing the air fryer lately, and it’s turning out to be a great alternative!).

For breakfast sausage? The Air Fryer!

Air Fryers are fantastic because they’re fast, convenient, and make clean-up a breeze. My air fryer is dishwasher safe (I highly recommend this Cosori Air Fryer), and you bet your bottom dollar that’s how mine gets cleaned. The sausage turns out nice and golden brown, the excess grease drains away pretty well, and you’re left with juicy, yummy breakfast sausage.

golden brown sausage patties served with eggs and toast for breakfast.

Below you will find my guide for how to make breakfast sausage in the air fryer. I include instructions fresh sausage patties or links, as well as frozen sausage patties and links. Yes, you can put frozen sausage right in the air fryer — so convenient!

Once you try cooking sausage in the air fryer, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. It’s quick, easy, and so versatile. I always make extra to reheat during the week for more warm egg n’ toast breakfasts for my boy.

tips and tricks

  • Different brands of sausage vary in size and thickness. Always use a meat thermometer to check for doneness (160 degrees for pork).
  • Make extra – heat leftovers in the microwave all week long!
  • To flip or not to flip? Flipping halfway through is best, but not absolutely necessary
  • Dishwasher – utilize that dishwasher for an extra quick clean-up (ensure your air fryer basket is dishwasher safe).
